Bolton Landing
The use of molecular 'probes' is fast becoming the preferred technique for identifying organisms in aquatic systems. Research in the molecular biology field at the Darrin Fresh Water Institute includes monitoring for the presence of zebra mussel larvae in Lake George, Lake Champlain, and the Hudson River. With a grant from the Froelich foundation, a study of phytoplankton diversity in Lake George has just been initiated.
